Message from the Principal.

I feel a profound sense of joy and pride as we step into the 76th year of the institution's educational journey, having successfully concluded the Amrit Mahotsav year of People's College, Nanded — an institution established on 26 June 1950 through the visionary foresight of Swami Ramanand Teerth.

The ideals articulated by Swamiji at the time of the college's inception remain a source of inspiration for us to this day. The primary objective behind the establishment of this college was to provide quality education to students from the poor, exploited, underprivileged and common strata of society; to cultivate within them knowledge, moral values, social commitment and leadership qualities; and to mould them into capable citizens dedicated to the service of society. For over seven decades, People's College has remained steadfastly true to this mission, upholding a glorious tradition of service through education. I am deeply indebted to the Nanded Education Society for granting me the opportunity — commencing this academic year — to serve as the Principal of a college endowed with such a distinguished legacy.

People's College is recognised as one of the pioneering institutions that laid the very foundation of higher education in the Marathwada region. At the Junior College level, education is offered for Classes 11 and 12 in both the Arts and Commerce streams, with an English-medium option also available in the Commerce stream. In the Faculty of Humanities, provisions exist for both undergraduate (B.A.) and postgraduate (M.A.) studies, offering degree and postgraduate programmes in Marathi, Hindi, English, Economics, History, Sociology, Political Science and Public Administration. Similarly, within the Faculty of Commerce and Management, undergraduate and postgraduate education is available in both Marathi and English mediums. Furthermore, the college hosts a study centre of the Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, as well as distance education facilities of Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University.

The college houses recognised research centres in Marathi, Hindi, English, Commerce, Economics and Political Science, providing facilities for doctoral research. To guide research students, experienced professors from various colleges within the jurisdiction of Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded, are affiliated with the college's research centres.

Rather than focusing solely on traditional education, the college has embraced skill-based, employment-oriented and technology-driven education in keeping with the changing times. Various initiatives are implemented to cultivate a research aptitude, innovativeness, entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of social responsibility among students. Many alumni of the college are making remarkable contributions across education, administration, industry, business, politics and social work, ably upholding the institution's legacy.

Academic, cultural, sports and social activities are regularly organised for the holistic development of students. Outstanding achievements in sports, the community-oriented work of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, the inspiration for national service provided by the National Cadet Corps (NCC), and the successes achieved at youth festivals through the cultural department are distinctive hallmarks of the college. Students have access to a well-equipped library with a rich collection of books, a spacious reading hall and other academic facilities conducive to learning. In today's competitive era, a dedicated Competitive Examination Guidance Centre operates within the college to prepare students for competitive examinations and career opportunities.

We are firmly committed to providing quality education that harmonises knowledge, values, skills and social commitment. Moving forward, we will continue to strive to take the institution's progress to even greater heights, guided by the values of excellence, quality and student-centric education.
