About the college
Founded on 26 June 1950, People's College was the first college in Marathwada. It has grown into a university-affiliated institution of nine departments, eighteen programmes and 1,590 students.
Our story
People's College began with the belief that higher education should not be a privilege of the few.
The college opened on 26 June 1950, in the Osmanshahi Textile Mill's school building, with 387 students — 385 boys and 2 girls — and eight teachers. It was the first college in Marathwada, created by Nanded Education Society under the leadership of Swami Ramanand Teerth.
From those beginnings the college has grown to 1,590 students, 43 sanctioned faculty posts and an 85-acre campus, with undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctoral programmes in nine departments.

The science faculty becomes N.E.S. Science College, Nanded.

Accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with a score of 2.42.
Recognised under Phase II of the UGC's College with Potential for Excellence scheme.
Secured 92.5% in the academic and administrative audit by SRTMUN, Nanded.

Governance
The college is run by Nanded Education Society. Academic and administrative affairs are guided by the Principal's Office, the College Development Committee and statutory committees, with the IQAC supporting continuous quality improvement.
The 85-acre campus includes a library and reading rooms, the Late Narhar Kurundkar Auditorium, a health care centre and sports grounds.
